Licensure
Many states, including Texas, require future practitioners to take the licensure examination. To order a examination instructional package, please click here. Because ACAOM's requirements exceed the licensure requirements of many states, graduates can practice in many states.
Licensure in TEXAS
To become a licensed acupuncturist, students must pass the point location, acupuncture, and herbology portion of the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM) exam. The legal requirements for licensure in Texas and entry into the profession can be obtained from the Texas State Board of Acupuncture Examiners, P.O. Box 2018, MC-231, Austin, Texas 78768.

Licensure in CALIFORNIA
ACAOM is accredited by the California Acupuncture Board, and therefore ACAOM students are eligible to apply for California licensure examination. The legal requirements for licensure in California and entry into the profession can be obtained from the California Acupuncture Board, 444 N. 3rd Street, Suite 260, Sacramento, CA 95814.
Licensure in NEW MEXICO
ACAOM is accredited by the New Mexico Acupuncture Board, and therefore ACAOM students are eligible to apply for NM licensure. The legal requirements for licensure in New Mexico and entry into the profession can be obtained from the New Mexico Board of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine, 2550 Cerrillos Road, Santa Fe, NM 87505.
Licensure in OTHER STATES
Students who graduate from ACAOM may be able to practice in many states. For specific requirements, please contact the individual state directly.
