ACAOM’s Community Service Programs Offer Healing and Study Opportunities

The American College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine has established deep roots in the Houston community over the last two decades.  Through numerous community service programs, thousands of people have been served in various ways including free and discounted treatments and scholarships to students of Traditional Chinese Medicine.

In 2013, ACAOM’s community service programs provided 2786 patients with discounted treatments and 2561 patients with free treatments, benefiting senior citizens, students, teachers, police officers, fire fighters, and other people in needs. These services totaled over $130,000  worth of TCM community services, and introduced many new people to acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and clinical tuina services provided by the school.

In addition to discount treatments, the American Foundation of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (AFAOM) gives out thousands of dollars in scholarships to students attending ACAOM every year.  Through fundraising events, including an annual Gala celebration each October, ACAOM and AFAOM will continue to increase focus and funding to these outreach efforts, in the hopes of reaching even more people in upcoming years, and supporting the health and wellness of the great city of Houston and beyond.
